After blockbuster success on OTT, Malayalam superstar ‘Drishyam 2’ creates a storm with its TV premiere. The Jeetu Joseph directional had its television premiere on the superstar’s birthday (May 21, 2021). As per the latest reports coming, Drishyam 2 has garnered a tremendous response on TV. The film has received massive TRP ratings on its TV premiered and emerged as the third most-viewed film ever in the history of Malayalam miniscreen.

As per trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Drishyam 2 recorded 6.58 million impressions for its TV premiere on Friday. It is the third-highest TV premiere ever for a Malayali film, Mohanlal’s own Pulimurugan and Prabhas blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion.

The world television premiere of Drishyam 2 was announced just one day prior. Getting such a massive TRP rating on short notice proves Mohanlal’s superstardom. Interestingly, the Top 5 all-time highest TRP rating list of Malayalam cinema features four Mohanlal movies with Lucifer stands at 4th place with 6.3 impressions.

These numbers are enough to prove that Mohanlal is the biggest superstar the Mollywood industry has ever produced.

Coming to Drishyam 2, it is a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam. It begins where the first movie ended. In the prequel, we saw how George Kutty tricked the police after his daughter (Ansiba) accidentally kills the son of a cop (Asha Sharath). George Kutty used his brain to its full extent to protect his family, and in the end, succeeded.
