Mirzya Music Review and Soundtrack- Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy do complete justice to Gulzar's lyrics!

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra‘s epic romance film Mirzya has Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as the composers and veteran lyricist Gulzar behind the songs. With such great names associated, we expect a masterpiece. Here’s our Mirzya Music review-

1. Mirzya

Singers like Daler Mehndi, Sain Zahoor, Akhtar Chinnal and Nooran Sisters have come together for the title track of the movie. The songs take you way back in time. The chorus that makes the song so amazing includes Shankar Mahadevan,The Salvation Singers, Nikita Deshpande and Sapna Pathak. There could not have been a better start to the album!

2. Teen Gawah Hain Ishq Ke

Sung by Siddharth Mahadevan and Sain Zahoor, Teen Gawah starts off on a slower note and then goes on to make you feel the refreshing feeling of falling in love. The music is admirable and Gulzar’s lyrics hit you at the right spot!

3. Chakora

Chakora is folk song with a twist. The fast pace, the electronic beats and the use of folk instruments bring out an amazing flavour of the song. Manganiyar singer Mame Khan is the surprise package and wins our hearts with his rusty voice. Shuchismita Das and Akhtar Chinnal support him wll enough.

4. Aave Re Hitchki
Shankar Mahadevan takes the mic for this number along with Mame Khan and he does wonders with his voice. The actual hiccups make the song even more lovely paired with the slow pace and minimal musical arrangement. Hear this song with your eyes closed and you’ll be taken to the deserts of Rajasthan. Best track so far!

5. Hota Hai

The soundtrack gains pace with the next track ‘Hota Hai’. This song is all about Nooran Sisters, who display their amazing talent. We also get to hear Sain Zahoor, Akhtar Chinnal and Daler Mehndi, Chinaal’s voice sounds a little scary at times!

6. Ek Nadi Thi
The lead vocalist of Agnee’s Kannan Mohan gets together with The Salvation Sisters for this soulful number. There’s nothing but a guitar, few claps and snaps to accompany the singers and they still pull off an unconventional but beautiful song.

7. Doli Re Doli
The trio have a big surprise up next as Doli Re Doli has a combination of classical vocals with Jazz music! That’s right! Shankar Mahadevan pairs up with Mame Khan for this melancholic number. An absolute delight for music lovers!

8. Kaaga
Kaaga reminds you of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie as it’s a purely classical number. Kaushiki Chakraborty is just amazing with her vocals. The rhythm is amzing and if you are a classical music lover, this songs is going to be a treat for you.

Here’s the complete jukebox-

There are six more short songs- Yeh Wadiyan Doodiyan Kohre Ki, Mirza Se Darre Khuda, Mera Mirza Sher Jawan, Lahoo Luhaan Zameen Hui, Puchh Na Pende Mamle and Phaa Paye Na Ishq Da. Sung and composed by Daler Mehendi, they are little beads of beautiful melody. Here they are-

Mirzya Music Review and Soundtrack: Our Final Verdict- Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are composing a soundtrack after a long time and all this break has truly been worth it. Bringing together a folksy album with such beauty is not an easy task, but they have done it with flying colors. I hope the movie is able to live up to this amazing set of songs. All songs are beautiful on their own but since it’s been tradition, our pick of the lot would be Mirzya Title Track, Aave Re Hichki, Ek Nadi Thi and Teen Gawah.

Our Rating- 4.5 Stars
