Maid is based on the best-selling Stephanie Land’s memoir, “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive.” Here’s everything you need to know about the first season of Netflix’s dramedy.

If you’re fond of comedy-drama novels, then you must have read Stephanie Land’s “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive.” The same story is returning with a fresh 10 episodes live fiction series on Netflix. Created by Molly Smith Metzler of “Shameless” and “Orange is the New Black” fame, the dramedy is titled Maid with Margaret Qualley leading the star cast.

There’s still some time left for Maid Season 1 release, so let’s discuss its release date, cast, trailer, and plot.

The official Netflix synopsis for the series reads, “After fleeing an abusive relationship, a young mother finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future.”

Is there a teaser or trailer yet?

Indeed, we do have a teaser as of now and a feature-length trailer is on its way. With more than 1.5 minutes, the teaser is no less, though. It gives us quite a sneak peek into the series. In the beginning, Alex, played by Margaret Qualley, is shown writing something. “It’s a story about a woman.” In case you have missed the teaser, we have it right here for you to witness.

Maid Season 1 Cast

Known for the HBO drama series The Leftovers, Margaret Qualley will lead the star cast. She plays Alex. Starring alongside Qualley is her own mother, actress Andie MacDowell. She will play Alex’s mother, Paula. The other members of the stellar star cast are:

  • Nick Robinson as Sean
  • Anika Noni Rose as Regina
  • Tracy Vilar as Yolanda
  • Billy Burke as Hank
  • Xavi de Guzman as Ethan

What storyline will ‘Maid’ Season 1 follow?

Not much is made official about the show’s plot/storyline. What we know for sure is the Netflix plot synopsis, which we already shared. Thereby, assuming by that and the teaser, it’ll follow the struggle of a woman. A mother who gets no good work and finally decides to clean houses for the better future of her children.

The interesting fact is that the series will feature the real-life mother-daughter, Margaret Qualley, and Andie McDowell, in opposite roles. This will mark their first show together. Guess we don’t have a lot of time left for its release or at least for the trailer. So it would be better if we wait for more spoiler-free revelations.
