Netflix’s horror drama series ‘Locke & Key’ is coming to an end. Season 3 will be the final season of the series. Based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez’s book series of the same name, the show debuted on Netflix on Feb 7, 2020. After the successful first season, Netflix renewed the series for the second season which premiered on Oct 22, 2021.
It was previously announced that the upcoming third season would be the last season. Well, it is now confirmed as Netflix has unveiled the trailer of the final season. When is the ‘Locke & Key’ Season 3 release date?
The third season of the series drops on Netflix on Aug 10, 2022.
The creators of the series have confirmed that the third season would be the last for Locke & Key.
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion. As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. How many episodes will there be in Locke & Key season 3?
While the first two seasons had 10 episodes, season 3 is confirmed to have eight episodes. However, these 8 episodes will be packed with punch. As Deadline reports an eight-episode final season was always the plan from the show’s creators.
Locke & Key season 3 plot: What will happen next?
First debuted in Feb 2020, the Locke & Key revolves around a Locke family, who decide to move from Seattle to Massachusetts to start a new life after a tragedy (Rendell Locke murder). The three Locke children along with their mother move to Rendell’s family home, Keyhouse. The children soon discover a number of mysterious keys in the house that let them open various magical doors. They soon realize that an evil force wants access to the keys for its own malevolent purposes.
Based on the comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, ‘Locke & Key’ has curved away from the source material’s horror theme, rather adopting a more friendly fantasy tone.
It is pretty tough to guess what will happen in the next season. However, we are assured that it’s going to be an action-packed season. In an interview with Collider, Meredith Averill said “The third season focuses much more heavily on the family. They’re gonna face the greatest threat they’ve had to face yet. That really bonds them in a way that we’ve never seen before.”
Well, he has certainly hinted that the threat of Captain Frederick Gideon is going to be the biggest threat.
