Laal Singh Chaddha 1st Day Box Office Collection: Lowest Opening For Aamir Khan Since Ghajini

Laal Singh Chaddha Soars Internationally Despite Boycotts At Home

Laal Singh Chaddha Box Office Collection Day 1: Aamir Khan starrer is off to a poor start across the country.

Aamir Khan, Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, returned to big screens after a long gap of four years with Laal Singh Chaddha. Considering Aamir Khan’s pull at the box office, the expectations from the movie were high. But like most Bollywood movies this year, Laal Singh Chaddha is off to a dismal opening at the box office. As per early reports, the Advait Chandan directional collected around Rs 11 Crore on its opening day. It is a very poor start for the movie considering the credentials attached to it.

The opening is way poor than we have expected. The start is poor across the country with mass centers and single screens reporting 10% to 15% occupancy. The opening day numbers are less than Ranveer Singh’s 83 and Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey which pretty much tell how poor the start is. We were expecting at least a Rs 15 Crore opening from the movie.

With collections of around Rs 11 Crore, Laal Singh Chaddha is now Aamir’s lowest opening day grosser in the past 13 years. Ghajini released in 2008 collected Rs 9.3 Crore on its first day. It was the highest opening day grosser of Bollywood at that time.

Released on around 3000 screens in India, Laal Singh Chaddha is among the most-awaited Bollywood movies of the year. It was expected that the Aamir Khan starrer will revive the struggling industry but the opening day numbers post a different story.

Laal Singh Chaddha Box Office

With a week full of national holidays, one can expect Laal Singh Chaddha to post respectable numbers but that won’t be enough to save the day. The budget of the movie is around Rs 180 Crore and it needs to earn at least Rs 200 Crore to be in a profitable zone.

The poor opening of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan has put the already struggling industry on a ventilator. The audience has become smart post-pandemic and is only looking for big-screen spectacles. Its high time for Bollywood to reconsider and reevaluate.
