After much delay, it is now official that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati will feature Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.

Even though we heard many reports about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati, the movie and the cast was never officially confirmed till now. Today, we have got the confirmation that Padmavati will feature Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor.

Sudhanshu Vats, the CEO of Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd. took to Twitter to announce this news-

The director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been having a quite hard time in finding a producer for the movie, given the whooping budget of 170 Crores. Earlier, there were reports that Eros International may back the project but things did not work out for them and the project passes on to the hands of Viacom. Bhansali and Viacom have earlier collaborated for Mary Kom.

Ajit Andhare, the COO of Viacom18 Motion Pictures said “VMP believes in redefining Indian cinema with differentiated content. An epic story brought to life by Sanjay’s genius for grandeur, drama and above all storytelling, Padmavati has the makings of a blockbuster.”

Padmavati will be the most expensive film produced by Viacom 18 till date and also the most expensive Hindi film ever proposed. The movie is expected to go on floors very soon and it will be released in 2017.
