Netflix’s first Belgian original series, ‘Into The Night,’ was an instant hit. Premiered on Netflix on May 1, 2020, the sci-fi drama thriller opened to terrific reviews and drew positive responses from the viewers. The dystopian thriller series follows a group of passengers onboard a plane as they desperately travel west to avoid the sun. Towards the end of the first season, the survivors found their way to the bunker, where they can seek shelter from the sun’s rays. Has Netflix Renewed ‘Into The Night’ for Season 2?
On July 1, 2020, Netflix renewed the sci-fi thriller series for a second season. Well, it came as no surprise as the first season received tremendous reviews. The series has an excellent 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. When premiered, it was an instant hit globally, making it to the top 10 list.
“We’ve been thrilled by the global response to Into the Night, and I’m excited to share that we’ll be doing a second season,” said creator and writer Jason George.
“It’s been amazing to see how fans across the world have connected with the multinational passengers and crew of BE Airways Flight 21. We are excited to continue their journey.”
What will be the plot of Into The Night Season 2?
The series is based on the 2015 Polish science fiction novel The Old Axolotl by Jacek Dukaj. Into the Night begins with an unexpected solar event, as the sun strangely starts killing everything in its path. The show focuses on the ‘lucky’ passengers and crew of an overnight flight out of Brussels, as they attempt to fly west – into the safety of the dark night.
At the end of the first season, the survivors found their way to the dugout, where they can protect themselves from the sun’s deadly rays. The commanding officer tells Sylvie that there’s a way to solve the problem.
There is plenty of source material left in the novel that we would see in the second season. In the second season, the group will continue their hunt to survive and find a solution to the problem. After a fire incident that reduced the bunker’s food supply, the group will be forced to fly to Norway to load up the food supply and return back to the safe place. The core cast will remain the same. Serials regulars that featured in the first season, will reprise their roles. They are:

- Ksawery Szlenkier as Jakub Kieslowski, a mechanic.
- Vincent Londez as Horst Baudin, a climate scientist.
- Regina Bikkinina as Zara Oblonskaya, a Russian mother who has a sick son, Dominik.
- Alba Gaïa Bellugi as Ines Mélanie Ricci, a digital influencer and internet celebrity.
- Nabil Mallat as Osman Azizi, a Moroccan airport cleaner.
- Nicolas Alechine as Dominik Oblonsky, the sick son of Zara.
Terenzio (Stefano Cassetti ), who died due to the deadly rays of the sun is unlikely to return for the second season.
