Happy New Year registered a mammoth start at Box Office during Diwali weekend. The movie opened to a bumper response collecting record breaking 44.97 crores on its opening day.The movie collected 108.86 crores in its first weekend and become the highest opening weekend grosser of Bollywood. The real problem starts from first Monday itself as the movie saw a big drop of 60%. The total first week collection of the movie was 157.5 crores which is not that good considering that it has collected 109 crores with in first 3 days of its release.
Happy New Year was expected to cross the 200 crore mark with in second week but that didn’t happen. The movie now has to compete with two other releases this week – The Shaukeens and Rang Rasiya. Happy New Year requires another 7 crores to cross 200 crore at domestic Box Office. If it all goes well then the movie should cross this figure 200 crores in it third weekend. Happy New year should settle for lifetime collection of 202 to 205 crores.
