With theatres continuing to remain shut across the country, many Bollywood films have chosen to take the route of a digital release. The Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Gulabo Sitabo, which was acquired by Amazon Prime Video, was the first major release to drop online. This has miffed the large theatre chains such as Inox and PVR, who are issuing strongly-worded statements, expressing their ‘disappointment’ at producers who circumvented theatrical exhibition to go for a straight-to-streaming release.
Despite this, several films have been reported to have a direct release on the various streaming platforms. Meanwhile, if the industry grapevine is to be believed, Netflix and T-Series have signed a multi-film deal that would bring Bhushan Kumar’s upcoming movies, which are currently stuck in limbo due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, to the platform. So this means that, apart from Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, a few more films are ready for direct release on Netflix.
Jhund
The film is based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer, a non-profit organisation which uplifts underprivileged children through football. Be it the collaboration of Nagraj Manjule and Amitabh Bachchan or the theme of football which has been rarely represented in mainstream Hindi Cinema, the film has garnered a great amount hype. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar(T-Series), Raaj Hiremath, Savita Hiremath(Aatpat Films) and Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni and Meenu Arora( Tandav Films).

Ludo
The film is an anthology film with a pinch dark comedy in it. The film has a huge ensemble cast, comprising of big-names. Anurag Basu tells another intriguing tale after Jagga Jassos and we just can’t wait. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishnan Kumar (T-Series) and Anurag Basu (Anurag Basu Productions).

Indoo Ki Jawaani
The film is a coming-of-age tale revolving around Indoo, a girl from Ghaziabad and her misadventures with dating apps. Principal photography began in Lucknow in October 2019 and the was wrapped up within 45 days. The film was scheduled to be released theatrically on 5 June 2020. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Nikkhil Advani under their respective banners T-Series and Emmay Entertainment.

Khaali Peeli
Ishan Khatter and Ananya Pandey starrer ‘Khaali Peeli’ was scheduled for theatrical release on 12 June 2020. However, due to lockdown, the makers have decided to go for digital release. If reports are to be believed then the film would release on Netflix in July or August. Official announcement to be made soon.
