In this article, we will look at some highly-anticipated Hindi movies that will directly release on Netflix.
With theatres continuing to remain shut across the country, many Bollywood films have chosen to take the route of a digital release. The Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Gulabo Sitabo, which was acquired by Amazon Prime Video, was the first major release to drop online. This has miffed the large theatre chains such as Inox and PVR, who are issuing strongly-worded statements, expressing their ‘disappointment’ at producers who circumvented theatrical exhibition to go for a straight-to-streaming release.
Despite this, several films have been reported to have a direct release on the various streaming platforms. Meanwhile, if the industry grapevine is to be believed, Netflix and T-Series have signed a multi-film deal that would bring Bhushan Kumar’s upcoming movies, which are currently stuck in limbo due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, to the platform. So this means that, apart from Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, a few more films are ready for direct release on Netflix.
