Famous American DJ Diplo’s upcoming song Phurrr, which also features Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, will alter the perception of ‘everything free’. Listeners who would like to be among the first ones to access the track will have to pay for it.
According to a source, “Sony Music India is basically warming up listeners to pay in order to access the latest music, via subscriptions. As a result, to be the first ones to listen to the song will have to pay for it, to do so.”
The source also claims “A trial video of the song will be released on YouTube all along with the audio on August 3. But, the complete song will come out later on.”
Shridhar Subramaniam, Head of Sony Music Entertainment, India and Middle East, said, “The perception of everything free will change or rather needs to change to an ecological unit where a few things will be free and supplementary things will be paid.”
“The cause Phurrr was selected is that it’s the leading project of the year with an International Collaboration. Therefore, we felt with the intention of if we are taking this step and after that we must do it with an extremely big song. We looked-for a big project with a must-listen song that had anticipation levels soaring high,” he added.
The verdict comes after much consideration with key partners and stakeholders together with audio streaming platforms such as Gaana, Saavn, Hungama as well as the film’s producer Red Chillies Entertainment.
