Family Reunion Part 3: Here’s everything you need to know about the next season of Netflix’s comedy TV series ‘Family Reunion’.

  • Netflix officially renewed Family Reunion way back in September 2019. 

Family Reunion is an American comedy television series. It follows McKellan family, who move to Georgia, leaving Seattle in order to reunite with their extended family. The show depicts how the family struggles to adapt to the southern culture and the generational gaps without making each other feel awkward. The show was praised for its realistic characters and engaging plotline which were integrated cohesively into the narrative. Netflix renewed the show for a new season in September 2019 making the fans overjoyed.

Season 1 had two parts. In the first part delivered in July 2019, 11 episodes were released. The next 11 episodes were released in part 2. Thus, Family Reunion season 2 will also be releasing in two parts.

What Will Be The Plot of Family Reunion Season 2?

The sitcom follows the McKellan’s, a family of six, who move to Georgia, leaving Seattle, in order to reunite with their extended family. Like the previous season, the show will continue to depict how the family struggles to adapt to the southern culture and the generational gaps without making each other feel awkward. 

Season 1 ended on two strands, first, the unpleasant encounter Mazzi and Shaka have with the police which makes Cocoa fear for their safety. This incident makes Cocoa wonder whether to move her family back to Seattle or stay in Georgia. Secondly, we see during Jade’s birthday celebrations, Cocoa and Moz have a reality check about their finances which is a matter of concern. 

The makers of the show have built a solid premise and the characters too are well-established. So, the expectations from the next season are high. Let’s wait and hope for the best.

Latest production and other updates

Meg DeLoatch will continue to serve as the showrunner and executive producer for the second season. Robert West and Scott Hartle too will be credited as the executive producers.

Season 2 will have a reduced episode count of 16 as opposed to 20 for season 1. If they split the season again into two parts, each part will consist of 8 episodes. There is a delay in shooting as Covid-19 disrupts the entertainment industry toppling shooting schedules. However, the filming started in Los Angeles in October 2020. 

Family Reunion part 3 release date

Season 1 of the sitcom has two parts. Family Reunion arrived on Netflix last summer on July 10th, 2019. It follows up Chris with a Christmas special episode on December 9, 2019. The remaining episodes of season 1 released on Netflix on January 20th, 2020.

Family Reunion part 3 was scheduled for the late 2020 release. However, with the delay in filming due to lockdown, there is a delay of around four months. Well, the official release date is out now. Family Reunion part 3 arrives on Netflix on April 5, 2021. Part 3 has 8 episodes.
