Dota Dragon's Blood Season 2: Release Date, Story, and other details

When will we get Dota: Dragon’s Blood Season 2? Is there a release date yet? What story will it follow? Here are the answers to all your questions.

  • The first season of Dota: Dragon’s Blade premiered on Netflix on March 25, 2021.
  • On 19 April 2021, the series was officially renewed for its second season as Book II.
  • There is no confirmed release date yet. We can’t expect the season before December 2021 or in the early months of 2022.

Dota Dragon’s Blood anime is created by Ashley Miller. It is based on the epic Dota video game, especially the second part titled Dota 2, which is a multiplayer online battle arena. The animated series is co-produced by Netflix Animation and Valve, the developers of the game. The animation of the series is handled by a South Korean animation studio ‘Studio Mir’ which has worked for the Netflix anime series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and Voltron: Legendary Defender.

The official Netflix synopsis reads. “The fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient Eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.”

Dota: Dragon’s Blood Season 2 Release Date

On April 19, 2021, DOTA 2’s official Twitter account officially announced the anime’s renewal. You can check the tweet below. Well, they aren’t referring to it as Season 2 but as Book 2. Perhaps, this gives a more essence of the DOTA franchise. As of the first season, Season 2 would also comprise the same eight episodes in all. Well, the production has barely started. Let’s see what revelations are next in line.

However, we don’t have a release date. Neither Netflix nor the production company have stated anything regarding the release of Book 2. And that’s understandable as it has been announced a few months back.

However, based on Netflix’s release schedule for anime series, Dota: Dragon’s Blood season 2 is expected to release in 2022. Netflix generally takes around a year between two anime seasons. So, it’s likely that Dota: Dragon’s Blood season 2 will premeire in March 2022, one year after Dota: Dragon’s Blood season 1.

Plot/Storyline for Season 2

Season 1 of Dota: Dragon’s Blood concluded on a major cliffhanger for all the fans out there. In the end moments, Selemene found out that his ex lover, Invoker has struck a deal with the demon, Terrorblade. The deal will bestow seven souls to Terrorblade in exchange of the goddess Selemene’s soul. This will also heal the wound of Invoker as he’ll eventually seek his 1000 years vengeance. Invoker, therefore, has two choices in front of him. Either he can kill her, or he can just take her powers, which would technically hurt more.

Meanwhile, Davion is transformed back to human form but he still has Slyrak’s soul within himself. Now, Invoker has ordered Fymryn to bring Davion so that he can take out the soul from him and give it to Terrorblade, as promised. Among these aspects, season 2 will also cover former Goddess Mene who would more likely return. Although Invoker stated that the lotuses can’t bring her back, but we know how good he is in lying. Also, Luna is badly injured and it lefts Mirana to lead her people.
