Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have pledged to contribute to PM-CARES Fund to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Bollywood celebrities are coming forward in the fight against coronavirus pandemic. Following other Bollywood celebrities, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have pledged to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund. Both of them took to Instagram to share their statement.

It read, “In times like these, every bit counts. We humbly pledge to contribute to the PM-CARES FUND and hope that you will too. We’re all in this together, and we shall overcome. Jai Hind. Deepika and Ranveer.”

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) was created on 28 March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The fund will be used for combating, containment and relief efforts against the coronavirus outbreak and similar pandemic like situations in the future.

Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma, have contributed to the PM-CARES Fund. Akshay Kumar donated Rs 25 crore to on the same day PM-CARES Fund was launched. Varun Dhawan donated Rs 25 lakhs.  Shahrukh Khan contributed to the PM-CARES Fund, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of different states.

Meanwhile, Coronavirus cases in India are rising at an alarming rate now. More than 1000 positive cases have seen reported in the last three days. The total number currently stands at 3000+ with a77 people lost their life due to this novel virus.
