Dark Desire (Oscuro Deseoi in Spanish) returned to Netflix for its second season on Feb 2, 2022, 18 months after the first season’s debut on July 15, 2020. The fans enjoyed the web of lies, betrayals, conspiracies, and scandals. The second season of Dark Desire has 15 episodes. Will there be Dark Desire Season 3?
With the show being a huge hit on Netflix, one would speculate the show to run for many seasons. However, this is not the case with Dark Desire. The show would not return for a third season.
Dark Desire debuted on Netflix in July 2020 and became a huge hit globally. In fact, at one point it became the most-watched debut season of a non-English series on Netflix. The Mexican romantic thriller gathered 35 million viewers in its first 28 days of release, according to Netflix.
Following the success of the first season, Netflix renewed the show for the second season in Aug 2020. With the renewal, the streaming service also announced that the second season will be the final season of the series. Well, the finale of the second season also suggests that we won’t be getting a new season as the story comes to an end.
What Could Happen in Dark Desire Season 3?
First, we need to understand that Dark Season is not returning for the third season on Netflix. It was announced that Season 2 would be the last chapter of the series. However, we have seen many times that streaming services renew the shows following exceptional viewership and demand from fans.

The second season begins with the suicide of Julieta, Dario’s bride-to-be. However, by the end, Alma makes Dario reveal that he murdered Julieta. No points to guess, the second season was full of twists and turns and it took several lies, betrayals, and streamy encounters to get to this point. Season 2 also get showcases Dario’s dark and shocking past with Lys Antoine.
At the end of the second season, Lys stays in prison for the murder of Alberto, while Dario ends up handcuffed at a hospital bed after being shot by Esteban. Alma finally gets free of the man who has occupied her thoughts since the begging.
If there is a third season, Dario may escape prison and chase Alma for the reasons best known to all of us. Esteban and his relationship with Dario could become one of the plot points for the potential next season. The new chapter may further showcase Alma’s recovery process, and she may find love again.
As on Sep 14, 2022, there is no update on the renewal of Dark Desire for the third season. So, we are almost assured that it won’t be returning and the fans have to settle with two seasons available to stream on Netflix.
