Streaming giant Netflix has released the trailer of their next original film titled Choked. Starring Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew in lead roles, the film directed by Anurag Kashyap. This dark film is based on the ill effects of demonetisation.

In the trailer, we see Saiyami as a middle-class working bank employee struggling to make her ends meet. His life takes a U-turn when she finds rolls of cash in her kitchen pipes. The accidental discovery of money makes her and her family’s life comfortable until demonetisation hits, and all the cash she has becomes useless. The trailer shows how her life’s changes after demonetisation. The film is primitively based on the ill effects of demonetisation.

This is Anurag Kashyap’s fifth association with Netflix. Anurag Kashyap has earlier been associated with Netflix for Sacred Games, Ghoul, Lust Stories and Ghost Stories. It is the first time that the ace-director has collaborated with Netflix for a full-length film.

Talking about the movie, Anurag Kashyap told Mid-Day, “The film is close to my heart. It is about relationships, and the precarious balance between truth, power and money. It is the story of a strong-willed, middle-class housewife who finds cash flowing out of her kitchen sink every night, and how this changes her life.”

Talking about Saiyami Kher, it is her second lead role after debut film Mirzya in 2016. Choked also stars Roshan Mathew, Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande. Anurag Kashyap’s directional Choked will stream on Netflix from June 5.
