Sooryavanshi Day 1 Box Office Prediction: Will the much-awaited action entertainer earn Rs 20 crore on its opening day?
After getting delayed for almost 18 months, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi is finally set to hit the theatres. The much-awaited action entertainer will release on Friday, Nov 5, 2021. It is the first big Bollywood release to hit big screens since March 2020 and hence there’s tremendous hype. Sooryavanshi is the most awaited Bollywood movie of 2021 due to several reasons. Since it is releasing during a festive season, one would expect a bumper opening. However, box office equations have changed a lot after the pandemic. So, how much will the Sooryavanshi day 1 box office collection be? Here’s our prediction and analysis.
Sooryavanshi Box Office Prediction: Opening Day
Sooryavanshi releases on post-Diwali day, which is arguably the biggest day of the year. The opening day numbers hugely depend on the screen count and the occupancy allowed. Though Delhi and Gujarat have allowed 100% occupancy, still some states are operating at 50, 60 or 75% occupancy.
If the movie opens on around 3000 screens then we can expect it to collect more than Rs 15 crore. Sooryavanshi is a movie for the masses. It means small towns and centres will contribute a lot to its box office numbers. In order to cross Rs 20 crore on the first day, it needs to perform exceptionally well in mass centres.
Well, the opening would be nowhere close to the pre-pandemic times. In the pre-pandemic period, Sooryavanshi could have easily crossed Rs 35 crore on its opening day. However, the times have changed now. Audiences do fear when they see that cinema halls are not operating at full capacity and there are restrictions in place.
If Sooryavanshi manages to go past the Rs 15 crore mark then it will be considered a solid opening. Good opening with positive word of mouth would make things easy. One can expect the movie to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in its lifetime if the word of mouth is on the positive side.
Will Eternals affect Sooryavanshi?
The much-awaited Marvel superhero movie Eternals is also releasing on the same day. MCU has a strong fanbase in India and there are millions of fans waiting for the release of Eternals. Will Eternals affect the box office numbers of Sooryavanshi?
Well, I don’t think so. Both movies have their own audience and fan base. So, one can expect both movies to co-exist and make it big at the box office. I am expecting Eternals to collect around Rs 5 crore on its opening day. It is not a highly commercial entertainer much like MCU’s Avengers series. So, we should keep our hopes limited.
