Box Office: Game Over For 'Laal Singh Chaddha' & 'Raksha Bandhan'

Two most-awaited Bollywood movies, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan debuted in theatres on Aug 11. The expectations were large especially from Aamir Khan’s LSC as he was returning to silver screens after a hiatus of four years. It’s been a terrible year for Bollywood as most theatrical releases have tanked at the box office. LSC and Raksha Bandhan were expected to revive the dying industry but it seems that bad days for Bollywood are far from getting over.

Both high-profile releases, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan have tanked at the box office despite an extended weekend full of holidays. Well, the box office fate was sealed on the very first day when none of the then managed to cross the Rs 15 Crore mark. The industry was hoping for a turnaround on big holidays like Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day. However, both biggies failed badly. The opening day was the best day for both movies as far as box office numbers are concerned. Here’s a look at how much Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan have collected so far at the Indian box office.

Laal Singh Chaddha box office collection

Aamir Khan starrer has been the target of the boycott trend for the last few weeks. However, one can’t deny that a remake of a classic like Forrest Gump is not something fans were interested in.

Laal Singh Chaddha collected Rs 11.7 Crore on its opening day. The reviews have been mixed and the word of mouth has also been not satisfactory. Indian audience has completely rejected the movie. As a result, it failed to even cross the Rs 50 Crore mark in 5 days (holidays included). The five days total of the Aamir Khan starrer is even less than the opening day collection of his previous release Thugs of Hindostan.

Mounted on a budget of Rs 180 Crore, Laal Singh Chaddha will wrap up its box office journey under Rs 70 Crore. Aamir Khan’s second failure after Thugs of Hindostan.

Raksha Bandhan box office collection

Akshay Kumar should have realized by now that releasing a new movie every second month is only deteriorating his image. Even his fans are getting bored now. Raksha Bandhan is Akshay’s third release of the year.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, Raksha Badhan is a complete failure at the box office. Debuted on Aug 11, it has failed to touch the double-digit despite many holidays. In five days, it has raked in under Rs 35 Crore. A total non-performer at the box office.

Akshay Kumar starrer will wrap up its box office journey under Rs 60 Crore. It is his third consecutive flop of 2022 after Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj. The actor has two more releases this year. Check Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movies.
