Bombay Velvet Box Office Prediction: Hype and Buzz

Bombay Velvet is Ranbir Kapoor’s first major release of the year. In fact,  it is the first major release post Besharam released in Oct 2013. Bombay Velvet is one of the most anticipated releases of the year primitively because of Anurag Kashyap direction and Ranbir-Anushka’s innovative pairing. Despite, being a big names associated with it, the movie hasn’t created enough buzz before its release. The first trailer was released around 3 months back received mixed reviews from the audience as well as Bollywood pandits. The makers have left no stone unturned in last couple of weeks to create substantial hype and buzz.

Bombay Velvet Box Office Prediction: Opening and Lifetime

By the time, even the filmmakers have realized that Bombay Velvet is a big risk taken by them. Anurag Kashyap is known for offbeat and low budget movies. His movies generally fare well in multiplexes and metros and this seems a case with Bombay velvet also. Ranbir Kapoor enjoys a big fan following and his pairing with Anushka should give a decent start to Bombay velvet at Box Office. Bombay Velvet is more of a WOM movie. Bombay Velvet should enjoy a good opening weekend and after that more will depend on content and WOM of public and critics. The opening day collection should be in the range of 10 to 12 crores.

Bombay Velvet Office Prediction: Expected Collection

If WOM is Good
Bombay Velvet first-day collection: 10 to 12 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-weekend collection: 34 to 36 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-week collection: 60 to 65 Crores
Bombay Velvet lifetime collection: 90 to 100  Crores

If WOM is Mixed

Bombay Velvet first-day collection: 10 to 12 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-weekend collection: 32 to 34 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-week collection: 50 to 55 Crores
Bombay Velvet lifetime collection: 75 to 80  Crores

If WOM is Bad

Bombay Velvet first-day collection: 10 to 12 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-weekend collection: 28 to 30 Crores
Bombay Velvet first-week collection: 45 to 50 Crores
Bombay Velvet lifetime collection: 65 to 70  Crores

Bombay Velvet Box Office Prediction: Budget, Screen Count and Other Economics

Screen Count: 2800 to 3000 screens (approx)
Certificate: U/A
Runtime: 151 mins
Budget: 95 Crores(Production) + 25 Crores (Advertising, promotion) , Total = 120 Crores

Bombay Velvet has a mammoth budget of 120 crores. Even with good opening and sustainable growth over a week it would be difficult for the movie to recover its production cost. Moreover, Bombay velvet has to compete with Piku, which is having a dream run at Box Office.
