The series debuted on Netflix on March 20, 2015. The third season premiered on Netflix on May 26, 2017. It’s been five years and fans are eager to know what happened to Bloodline Season 4.

There were some rumors out in the market that Bloodline is coming back with the fourth season in 2024. So, let’s dig deep and know the truth. If it comes back, then what would be the release date, plot, cast, etc.

Will there be Bloodline Season 4?

Unfortunately, there won’t be Bloodline Season 4. Netflix officially canceled the show after three seasons. There is no hope that any streamer will renew the series now because it’s already been six years since the fifth season premiered.

Bloodline was renewed by Netflix for a third season on July 13, 2016, and it was later revealed that this would be the series’ final season. The third and final season was released on May 26, 2017.

Will there be more seasons?

The creators and executive producers Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler have said they planned the series for five or six seasons.

“We’re doing a TV series, so even in our own mind, we’re asking ourselves, ‘Does this series have seasons in it?'” Daniel Zelman said to The Hollywood Reporter.

He added, “When we pitched it, and we thought about it, we were thinking five to six seasons down the line because we wanted to make sure it could hold that much material. So we certainly have ideas for where everything could go and hopefully where everything will go.”

How fans reacted to the cancellation?

Needless to say, fans were highly disappointed when Netflix cancelled the series after three seasons. Here are a few reactions from fans on Twitter:

Why Netflix cancelled the series?

In a Variety report, it was stated that Bloodline Season 3 would be the show’s final season. “Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast, that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series. Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017,” Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland said in a statement released to Variety.

Here’s a video interview by Kyle Chandler & Ben Mendelsohn that pretty much outlines why Bloodline Season 4 was cancelled.

According to reports, Bloodline Season 4 was cancelled due to financial issues. The future of the Florida-set drama was put in doubt when the state “cut its entertainment tax incentives program, therefore making the series much more costly to produce.”

Was there a plan for Bloodline Season 4?

Certainly, prior to the premiere of the show, Zelman informed Variety that the team behind the creation had intentions for a season that could have been twice its current length. “Right from the point of pitching the show, we harbored concepts for a span of five to six seasons, as it held significant value for us to contemplate the progressive development of each season,” Zelman stated.

What happened in Bloodline Season 3?

The finale (season 3) of Bloodline depicts a man seeking into his nephew’s eyes and possibly about to tell him that he killed the boy’s father. Kevin asks Roy Gilbert for assistance after killing Marco to cover up the crime. Gilbert designs a scheme to blame O’Bannon for the crime, but Kevin almost perishes in the process. Meg disappears, Kevin gets more caught up in Gilbert’s shady schemes, and John becomes more and more consumed by guilt over Danny’s death due to the impending trial.

In Los Angeles, Meg runs away and hides. Gilbert’s men capture Ozzy, who later commits suicide before Gilbert appears to have died of a heart attack. Sally exposes the Rayburns’ history of keeping information hidden. O’Bannon is sentenced to prison after losing his case. Gilbert has Kevin arrested for smuggling drugs. Sally admits that she despises John and Kevin and that Danny is her favourite. John is torn about telling Nolan about Danny; the series ends just as their conversation is about to begin.
