Black Window Box Office Debut: As expected Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ beats ‘F9’ to record the biggest box office debut since the pandemic.

Disney and Marvel superhero biggie ‘Black Widow’ is off to a blazing start at the box office. As predicted the Scarlett Johansson starrer seized a huge $80 million in its first weekend in North America. Black Widow beats F9 to register the biggest box office debut since the pandemic hit the world in March 2020. Vin Diesel’s ‘F9’ released last month garnered $70 million in its opening weekend.

Black Widow is the first movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to open concurrently in movie theaters and on Disney Plus. Through Disney Plus Premier Access, subscribers can rent “Black Widow” for an extra $30. Disney revealed that the movie gained $60 million from Pay Per View on Disney Plus Premier Access.

Black Widow also collected an additional $78 million from 46 international territories, taking its global box office numbers to $159 million. In total, the movie earned $219 million on its opening weekend. These are incredible numbers, to say the least. Black Window is yet to get a release date in China which is considered a huge market for Marvel movies.

In the U.S. and Canada, the Marvel biggie arrived in 4,100 theaters on Friday following Thursday evening previews. The blazing opening for Black Widow and the success of F9 is testimony that the box office is indeed reviving.
