Bang Bang vs Haider : It is unfair to compare ‘Bang Bang’, ‘Haider’, say trade experts.
Oct 2 will be the biggest filmy weekend of 2014 as the two big releases of the year, Bang Bang and Haider are all set to clash at Box Office.Bang Bang vs Haider is the talk of the tinsel town. There has been lot of talk about this Box Office clash for the last few months. Box Office comparisons have been made on various grounds. However, these comparisons seems vague as two movie are as different as chalk and cheese in terms of theme, budget, cost and sensibilities.
“It’s not a clash of the titans at all,” trade analyst Komal Nahta told IANS. “It is unfair to compare them.
This is unfair to compare the two movies as the tone and genre are very divergent. Their directors are poles apart in approach and sensibilities towards film-making.
While, Siddharth Anand is known for his mass entertainers like Salaam Namaste and Bachna Ae Haseeno, Vishal Bharadwai is altogether a man of different league. The ace director of Bollywood is known for his fascination for Shakespeare’s classics. Vishal Bharadwaj has effortlessly adapted Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Othello into Maqbool and Omkara. This time he is coming with Haider as an adaptation of Macbeth.
Haider’s director Vishal Bharadwaj feels that the two films are put in the same bracket only because they are releasing on the same day, otherwise there is not a single common factor between them.

“‘Bang Bang!’ is said to be a Rs.180 crore film, ours is a Rs.24 crore film. Of course, they would need more money to break even, we would need lesser,” Bhardwaj told IANS.
“It’s a very big weekend and it can accommodate two films and that’s why we thought of releasing with ‘Bang Bang!’,” he added.
It’s unfair to compare the two movies as their star values are different. Hrithik and Katrina enjoy healthy fan following as compared to Shahid and Shraddha. Secondly, the budget and costing of the movies are way apart. Moreover, Bang Bang has a very big release as compare to Haider. Bang Bang is releasing on 3500 screens as compared to Haider which is releasing on 1000 screens.
Bang Bang needs to collect huge bucks at Box Office in order to recover its investment of 180 crores. While, Haider made on a budget of 24 crores just needs few good days at Box Office in order to emerge as a Box Office winner.
Whatever be the case, we movie goers has two superb choices this weekend to enjoy out Gandhi Jayanti to the fullest.
