The situation in Assam is worsening day-by-day, with about 28 lakh people affected and 2,500 villages still submerged in the flood-hit districts. The number of dead has reached 68 and is rising.
Recently, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had donated Rs.2 crore for the victims of Assam floods, now the legendary Amitabh Bachchan has extended a hand for help towards the victim of Assam floods. Amitabh Bachchan has donated Rs 51 lakhs recently.
Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam took to his twitter and thanked Amitabh Bachchan for contributing in the relief fund. He wrote:
“We appreciate Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji for contributing Rs. 51 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This is a great gesture & show of care for the people. Thank you, on behalf of the people of Assam, for your support.”

Amitabh Bachchan, who is very active on micro-blogging site – Twitter, was quick to notice the tweet and come up with a reply. In response to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Amitabh Bachchan urged the people to contribute whatever they can for the victims of Assam floods. He wrote:
“Assam is in distress .. the floods have caused great damage .. send care and assistance for our brothers and sisters .. contribute generously to the CM Relief Fund .. I just did .. HAVE YOU ..?,”

This isn’t the first time that Amitabh Bachchan has done something like this. A few months back Amitabh Bachchan cleared off the loans of several farmers in the past.
Furthermore, during the Pulwama attack, Amitabh Bachchan had he had also donated Rs 5 lakh each to the families of CRPF Jawans of Pulwama attack.
