As per the reports coming, the digital rights of Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 has been sold to Amazon for a whopping price.
Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is unarguably the most anticipated movie of 2018. Though the release date of the movie is still unknown, the buzz surrounding it huge to say the least. Earlier slated for release on 25 Jan 2018, the movie has been postponed to a different date.
While we are waiting for the announcement of the new release date, the makers have a cracked a massive deal with Amazon Prime video. As per the reports coming, the digital rights of the film has been sold to Amazon Prime video for a whopping price of 54 crores. If this turns out to be true then it will be the record price digital rights deal for an Indian film.
Satellite rights were also sold for record price
2.0 is on a record breaking steak even before its release. The makers are taking the movie to a new level altogether. Few months back, the satellite rights (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) of 2.0 were sold to Zee Network for a record price of 110 crores.
“Both Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar are phenomenal actors with an unbelievable fan following that will soon get the chance to stream the sequel of Rajinikanth’s memorable movie on their favorite streaming device,” Vijay Subramaniam, director of content for Amazon Prime Video, said.
“We are here to produce great movies. I hope these investments will take Tamil and Indian cinema to world-class standards,” said Lyca chairman Subaskaran Allirajah.
As reported earlier, the release date has been pushed forward owing to VFX work. There are reports that the movie will now release in April 2018. Directed by S Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions, 2.0 also stars Amy Jackson and Adil Hussain. One of the most awaited movies of 2018, 2.0 is expected to shatter all box office records in India and overseas.
