Shaandaar turned out to be one of the biggest disasters of this year. The failure of the movie has shocked everyone associated with it be it the director Vikas Bahl, Shahid Kapoor or Alia Bhatt. No one would have thought that one of the hottest movies of the year will find it difficult to even sustain at the Box Office.
Shaandaar failure comes as a big loss for everyone associated with it. Shahid Kapoor who was riding high on his last year successful release Haider is back to the ground. The actor has to think again of his movies selection. He will be next seen in Udta Punjab and Rangoon.
Shaandaar’s failure is a big loss for Alia Bhatt who began her career with ‘Student Of The Year’ and followed it up with hits like ‘Highway’, ‘2 States’ and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. The actress was at her all-time high and then Shaandaar released. Shaandaar is the first flop of Alia career and the actress seems to be quite dishearted by this result.
Asked if she was disappointed with the performance of the film, Alia said “Of course, there is disappointment. It’s a first for me. I’ll take this in my stride and move on.”
While ‘Shaandaar’ is the first failure of Alia’s career, 2015 has been a disastrous year for Dharma and Phantom. While ‘Brothers’ and ‘Shaandaar’ have failed at the box office for Dharma, it was a disastrous year for Phantom as both Bombay Velvet and Shaandaar tanked at the Box Office.
