Not many days ago, Khiladi Kumar made the official announcement of his next film and now we know that Akshay Kumar will play legendary hockey player Balbir Singh in ‘Gold’.

Akshay Kumar revealed the first poster of his patriotic movie Gold a few weeks ago. To be directed by Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Talaash fame Reema Kagti, Akshay Kumar will play legendary hockey player Balbir Singh in ‘Gold’.

The film will be based on Independent India’s first ever gold medal win and we will get to see Akshay Kumar essaying the role of Indian Hockey Legend, Balbir Singh, who was a part of the winning team. His Olympic record for most the goals scored by an individual in an Olympic Men’s hockey final still remains unbeaten. He scored five goals in India’s 6–1 victory over the Netherlands in the final game of the 1952 Olympics.

The film will be completely based on Balbir Singh’s (often known as Balbir Singh Sr.) life and it will surely be a dramatic movie. The film is currently in pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2017. This movie would also mark Akshay Kumar’s first collaboration with Farhan Akhtar’s production house, Excel Entertainment.
