Akshay Kumar To Star In Tamil Blockbuster Hit Kaththi's Remake

Akshay Kumar has been winning hearts and ruling at the box-office, by giving back-to-back blockbuster performances. Yet again, he is all set to take the box-office by storm as he has back-to-back power packed movies lined-up ahead.

Akshay Kumar is currently busy in promoting his upcoming movie ‘Mission Mangal’. Next, he will be shooting for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, where he will be seen playing the character of a cop. After that, he has an amazing line up of movies which include ‘Housefull’, ‘Good News’, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, and ‘Bachchan Pandey’.

Seems like he is on an announcing spree. Jagan Shakti, the director of Mission Mangal has announced yet another movie with him.

The movie featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role will be a remake of the 2014’s hit Tamil movie Kaththi which had starred Vijay and Samantha Akkineni as the lead pair. Akshay Kumar will be playing a double role in the movie. The original movie was directed by AR Murugadoss, who previously directed Akshay Kumar starer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. The movie has been titled Ikka.

If reports are to be believed then after the success of the original movie, in 2015 or 2016 Akshay Kumar had also said in public interactions that he was yet to take a call on doing the movie.

The original movie, Kaththi was based on the social issue of farmer-suicides driven by corporate encroachment.

Talking about the remake, the director Jagan Shakti revealed that the remake was put on the backseat after he decided to do Mission Mars. “But now Ikka will go on the floors very soon,” he said.

“It will resonate with the underprivileged section of the society. With my second directorial, I want to explore action which is presented in a sleek way,” he added.

Last week, Akshay Kumar had announced another movie, Bachchan Pandey, by sharing the first look of the movie on social media. Bachchan Pandey is slated to release next year on Christmas.
