This is a great news for all Akshay Kumar fans out there. As per the media reports, Akshay Kumar will get equal screen space as Rajinikanth in all Robot 2.0 promotional events.
Robot 2 has a huge budget of 350 crores. In order to recover this and emerged as a success at the Box Office, the movie needs to perform well not only in south India but in north India as well. As Akshay Kumar enjoys a huge fan following in north Indian circuits, the makers are promoting Robot as Akshay-Rajinikanth movie rather than a Rajinikanth movie. The fact that Robot wasn’t a success in Hindi belts has prompted the makers to market Robot 2 as Akshay Kumar film.
A source close to the film says, “The thing is, the producers of 2.0 hope to sell the film to the Hindi belt on the basis of AK’s presence there. For all his iconic status, Rajini’s films don’t work in North India. With Akshay Kumar playing the villain against Rajnikanth, the makers of 2.0 hope to make a killing in both the Hindi and non-Hindi markets. Hence the film will be marketed as a two-hero film all across the country.”
Robot 2 has been directed by Shankar. Starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, the movie is slated to release on Diwali 2017 and may clash with Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal 4.
The first looks of Robot 2 were released on 20 Nov 2016 and are receiving huge applause from the audience and critics.
