Airlift movie review: critics reviews and rankings

Airlift movie review by Bindu Rai from Emirated247: What ‘Airlift’ excels at is its ability to deftly weave through the layers of human emotions with select personal stories, without trapping itself in the quagmire of glycerin-induced histrionics. Where ‘Airlift’ perhaps stumbles is its over-simplicity in handling some of the proverbial landmines strewn in its path; and Inaamulhaq’s Arab accent as an Iraqi major is quite laughable.

Airlift movie review by Manjusha Radhakrishnan from Gulf News: Full marks need to be given to director Raja Krishna Menon and the lead actors for keeping it real. There was no unnecessary melodrama to underline that a war is the greatest leveller and the action moves at a brisk pace in the first half. While the first half marches along confidently, the second half stands on shaky ground.

Airlift movie review by Box Office Detail: Airlift is a fine piece of Cinema and Bollywood could sure use more of these films. The intensity, the feel, the acting, the sets and the concept should be really appreciated. It’s not everyday a film like Airlift is made in Bollywood. Whoever Ranjit Katyal is. A real life hero or a fictitious character conjured up by Bollywood, Airlift is a really wonderful film to watch.

Airlift movie review by Taran Adarsh: Some stories *should* be told. #Airlift sheds light on the evacuation of Indians in Kuwait after the invasion by Iraq. Narrated BRILLIANTLY.Airlift is taut, engrossing, leaves a hammer-strong impact. Akshay Kumar is OUTSTANDING. His performance is the soul of #Airlift. An award-worthy act. Ranks easily amongst his finest works.Airlift is a must must watch. One of the finest films to come out of the Hindi film industry. Just do not miss this one!

Airlift movie review by Raja Sen from Rediff: Airlift is compelling, thanks largely to a sterling performance from Akshay Kumar — who is both suitably weary and suitably level-headed for the part — enough to anchor the proceedings. The actor is always fine when reined in, and Menon plays to his strengths and Kumar only snaps once, almost reflexively, into Bollywood hero mode, but he is mostly calm and grown-up and holding on.
