Akshay Kumar’s most awaited patriotic drama, Airlift, has got off to a terrific start in India as well as overseas. Released yesterday in UAE-GCC, the movie opened to superb response and minted approximately AED 900,000 (Rs 1.66 crore) on the first day. The movie has become the highest opening day grosser for Akshay Kumar in UAE-GCC.

As tweeted by Akshay Kumar yesterday, the movie was released on 70 screens in the Middle East. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first-day collection UAE collection of the movie.

Talking about the first day collection in India, the movie opened to an average start in the morning shows with an occupancy of around 35%. As the positive reviews started to pour in, the movie witnessed superb growth in the noon and evening shows. The average occupancy till the evening shows wAS around 45% with nights shows yet to be reported. The movie is expected to collect more than 12 crores on the first day.
In India, Airlift is severely affected by its clash with adult comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3. KKHH3 has also got off to a tremendous start. In fact, it is going stronger than Airlift in mass centers and single screens. In multiplexes and metros, Airlift seems to have an edge over Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3.
