The most awaited film of the year 2.0 is finally in theatres now. Starring two biggest superstars of the country, Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth, 2.0 is the most expensive movie of the Indian cinema. As expected, the movie is off to a flying start at the box office.
The movie created huge pre-release buzz and the fans across the nation go crazy when it finally gets released today. The movie received incredible response especially in south India where Rajinikanth fans goes mad to see their superstar on the big screen.
Let me tell you that 2.0 is the widest Indian release of all time. It is released on around 7500 screens across the country. Out of these 7500, more than 4000 screens have been alloacated to the Hindi version of the movie.
2.0 first day box office collection: good opening
Talking about Hindi version, 2.0 is off to a good opening. A report in Box Office India suggests that the movie recorded around 50% occupancy on the first day. 2.0 earned 20.25 crores on its opening day.
The first-day collection of the Hindi version is less than expectations. I was expecting the movie to earn at least 30 crores on its opening day.
2.0 even failed to beat the opening day collection of Gold which is theĀ highest opening day grosser for Akshay Kumar.
Earth-Shattering opening down south
Though the movie failed to meet the expectations in the Hindi belt, it is off to an earth-shattering opening in the south belt. Released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, 2.0 earned around 50 crores down south.
