1. Abhishek Chaubey
Abhishek Chaubey learned from the best. He worked as an assistant director under Vishal Bhardwaj for many years before making his directorial debut with Ishqiya. His second film Dedh Ishqiya was also well received and his latest flick Udta Punjab won praises all over.
2. Hansal Mehta
Hansal initially worked on the small screen by directing many shows like Khana Khazana, Amrita, Highway, Yaadein, Lakshya etc. He made his Bollywood debut as director with Jayate. Then he came up with Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar and Chhal. Post this, he went on a sabbatical and made his comeback with Shahid, which won him the National Film Award for Best Direction. City Lights and Aligarh are some of his other touching works.
3. Homi Adjania
Homi Adjania made his mark with his first film, which he also co-wrote, Being Cyrus. His second film Cocktail was a commercial and critical hit. After that his third film Finding Fanny mostly had positive reviews. he is currently working on his next project titled as Takadum.
4. Maneesh Sharma
The sleeper hit Band Baaja Baaraat was Maneesh Sharma’s train to fame. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director for it. His other three films Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Shuddh Desi Romance and Fan were also quite successful at the box office.
5. Neeraj Ghaywan
Even though Neeraj Ghaywan is only one movie old in Bollywood but his first film Masaan won so many awards and accolades that we can’t help but expect more from him. He assisted Anurag Kashyap during the making of Ugly and Gangs of Wasseypur and is also credited for short films like Shor, Epiphany, Independence.
6. Neeraj Pandey
Neeraj Pandey won critical acclaim for his first feature film A Wednesday. He won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director for it. His other two film Special 26 and Baby made his even more of a hit. His next film M.S.Dhoni- The Untold Story is about to release and he has already started working on his next project titled as Crack.
7. Shimit Amin
Best known for the award-winning film Chak De! India, Shimit Amin grew up in Florida. His first movie was Ab Tak Chhappan. He won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for Chak De. His latest film Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year was a critical success.

10. Vikramadtiya Motwane
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s long-time assistant, Vikramaditya’s debut film Udaan was selected to compete in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and also won seven Filmfare awards. His second film was Lootera and currently he is working on his third film titled as Bhavesh Joshi.
