The release date of director Raja Krishna Menon’s Airlift is just around the block, the movie is a must-watch for every Indian. Here’s why
1. Real Life War
Airlift is based on a real life incident which occurred during the Iraq-Kuwait war during the year 1990. It is based on world’s biggest civil evacuation- evacuation of Indians who have been living in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war.
2. Raja Menon’s dedication
Raja Menon worked for years on the script and did an extensive research on the subject. He has been closely associated with many of those people who were stranded in that situation. When the script was ready, a lot of producers asked him to make Airlift as a documentary instead. But he did not budge.
3. Ranjit Katyal
Akshay Kumar learned Arabic language for his portrayal of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy businessman who called himself Kuwaiti rather than an Indian. He was the one who arranged the meeting of Saddam Hussain and Indian Foreign Minister I.K. Gujral.
4. Largest Human Evacuation Ever
The evacuation of 1,70,000 people is the highest number of evacuation and has been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 59 days, 488 flights evacuated all the Indians from the war-effected country.
5. Indian Airforce
The movie is the perfect example of how well the Indian government coordinated with the Iraqi army and how efficiently the Indian Airforce worked in order to save all the Indians.
