Varun Dhawan will pay tribute to the legendary actor Dev Anand by starring in the remake of the classic “Johny Mera Naam”.
Varun Dhawan has been appreciated for his films and the energy he puts into his work delivering the audience some of the best-suited movies like ABCD 2, Badlapur, the latest one being Dilwale. The blockbuster of the 70’s rocked the box office once with the crime thriller theme starring Dev Anand is now paving way for this next gen star.
Varun has been considered as the chosen one to star in the remake. Rajiv Rai, the director of a popular flick “Mohra” starring Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty is the new architect to design the remake. Other of his blockbuster directorial are Tridev (1989), Vishwatma (1992) and Gupt (1997). Earlier in 2006, Varun’s father David Dhawan also showed interest in making a remake of “Johny Mera Naam” but the project didn’t survive, as reported.
“Johny Mera Naam” was one of the most acclaimed movies of Dev Anand Sahab in which he played and undercover CID agent. The movie was a crime thriller and albeit we have seen Varun in a serious role in “Badlapur” but his sense of humour and dance moves are more acknowledged and loved by audiences. So, we have no idea how the new avatar of Varun will be in this remake but certainly with his versatility in roles we look forward for something that will take us all with surprise.
