Women play an important role in the functioning of society and life cannot be imagined without their contribution. Gone are the days when their only job was to make food and take care of children. Today women are working in corporate offices and multinational companies.

Sports, Bussiness, Engineering, Medical whatever you name, women are present there and performing way better than men in certain places. Indian Cinema is also no exception, gone are the days when actresses were given role just to dance in songs and used as a piece of attraction, now Bollywood actresses are doing women-centric movies and people are welcoming this change in the industry. Actresses like Deepika, Priyanka and Aishwarya are making India proud at a global level. The trend of women-centric biopics started with films like Godmother, Bandit Queen and success of like Mary Kom and The Dirty Picture have given Bollywood a big reason to celebrate. Here we bring four upcoming women-centric biopics we just can’t afford to miss.

1. Haseena Parkar
The role of Hasina Parkar, sister of Dawood Ibrahim is played by the Shraddha Kapoor. After playing light and friendly roles in movies like Ek Villain and Half Girlfriend, Shraddha will be seen in some serious role and her transformation from a girl of 27 to a lady of 45 will be interesting to watch. Shraddha will be seen first time with her real life brother Siddhanth Kapoor playing a role of Dawood Ibrahim. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and is all set to release on 18 August 2017.

2. Manikarnika
Manikarnika is based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai who was amongst the first freedom fighters against the British Rule in 1867. The role of Rani Laxmi Bai will be portrayed by Kangana Ranaut. The film is written by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, who was also the writer of blockbuster films like Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film is all set to release in April 2018.

3. Saina
Saina is the biopic of India’s daughter and pride Saina Nehwal who won Padma Bhushan for her contribution to the country in form of her game. The role of Saina will be played by Shraddha Kapoor and she revealed in an interview that this is her most difficult role till date. The movie is directed by Amol Gupte and is slated to release in 2018.

4. PV Sindhu’s Biopic
Actor Sonu Sood who recently worked with Jackie Chan and last produced Tutak Tutak Tutiya has again stepped into shoes of a producer and is coming up with a biopic on PV Sindhu, the pride of India who won the silver medal at Olympics 2016. For the role of PV Sindhu, the name of Queen Of Bollywood Deepika Padukone is almost final.”I would love to see Deepika playing the character of Sindhu in my film. She is a fine actress. We are still in scripting stage. If the part is offered to her and she likes the script and director and has the time for it, she will surely give her nod”, he was quoted as saying.
