Box Office Report: Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Grosses 200 Crores Worldwide

As expected, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha witnessed a huge drop in collections on its second Monday. As per early estimates, Toilet Ek Prem Katha 11th day collection will be around 3 crores. With lower ticket prices and normal weekday, this drop was always expected. Another reason for this big drop is the film’s huge growth over the second weekend.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha earned 19 crores in its second weekend. These are superb numbers considering that the movie has consumed its potential audience and is competing with Bareilly Ki Barfi and Annabelle: Creation. TEPK has been affected by these movies especially in south India and big metro cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.

With the collection of 118.05 crores, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has now become Akshay Kumar’s 4th highest grossing movie. It has beaten the lifetime collection of Baby, ‘Singh Is Bliing’, Brothers and ‘Gabbar Is Back’, Holiday, Housefull 2, Jolly LLB 2 and Housefull 3.

Akshay Kumar continues his prime form at the domestic box office. Toilet: Ek Katha is his fifth consecutive 100 crore film in a span 20 months. It is Akshay Kumar’s 8th movie to enter 100 crore club. He has the second most 100 crore movies to his name. Salman Khan is at the top with eleven 100 crore movies to his name. Talking about films of 2017, Toilet: Ek Pre Katha is now the fourth-highest grosser of 2017 after Bahubali 2, Raees and Tubelight. It has beaten the lifetime collection of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Jolly LLB 2. TEPK still needs 20+ crores to beat the lifetime collection of Raees (138 crores) and emerge as the highest grossing film of 2017. The movie needs to earn most in these four days as from next Friday ‘A Gentleman’ will take a huge chunk of screens.
