Simran Lifetime Collection, Box Office Verdict: Kangana's 4th Consecutive Flop

Kangana Ranaut’s latest release Simran has emerged as a huge disaster at the box office. Released on 15 Sep 2017, the movie was expected to bring back the best of Kangana Ranaut but that didn’t happen. Though Kangana’s performance has been appreciated, the movie has failed big time at the box office.

Simran Lifetime collection and box office verdict

Directed by Hansal Mehta, the movie almost wrapped up its journey in the first week itself. With huge drop on weekdays, it ended the first week with the collection of 15.48 crores. With the release of three new movies this week, there were no takers for Simran and it managed to earn around 1 crores from its Day 8 to Day 10. Simran is expected to wrap up its box office journey by the end of this week and its lifetime collection will be around 18 crores.

Made on a budget of 30 crores, the movie recovered around 15 crores from music, satellite and overseas rights. Despite being a medium budget movie, Simran has failed terribly at the box office. The producers have incurred losses.

Simran is Kangana Ranaut’s fourth consecutive flop. Her last three movies, Katti Batti, I Love NY and Rangoon were also big box office failures. In fact, her last major box office success was Tanu Weds Manu Returns which was released in 2014.

Lifetime collection and box office verdict of Kangana Ranaut’s last 5 films

Tanu Weds Manu Returns: 152 crores, Blockbuster
Katti Batti: 26.5 crores, Flop
I Love NY: 1.4 crores, Disaster
Rangoon: 26 crores, Disaster
Simran: 18 crores, Flop

The failure of Simran has proved that Kangana Ranaut can’t drive a film solely on her shoulders. Like other actresses, she also needs a good film and director to become successful at the box office. Kangana will be next seen in Manikarnika in which she will be seen as Rani Laxmibai. The movie has been directed by Krrish who has earlier helmed Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back.
