The movie had a terrible start in the morning shows with average occupancy being around 12%. The opening was in the similar range as some of the biggest disaster movies of 2017 like Rangoon, Sarkar 3 and Noor. The movie has literally no scope in mass centres and it is heavily dependent on its performance in metros and multiplexes.

Raabta saw small growth in the evening shows but that wasn’t enough to save the day. The occupancy in the evening shows was around 20%. Raabta first day box office collection: Official numbers
The movie has a poor start in the morning shows but somehow it managed to end the first day on a respectable note. As per official figures shared by Taran Adarsh, Raabta earned 5.61 crores on its first day. It is the 9th highest opening of 2017. The opening day collection of Raabta is higher than flop movies like Ok Jaanu, Rangoon and Begum Jaan. (Read: Highest opening day grossers of 2017)
The biggest issue with Raabta is its confused plot. The movie basically has two themes, reincarnation and rom-com. While reincarnation theme movies appeal to masses, rom-com movies are favourable for classes. We really don’t what was going through the mind of the filmmakers when they were working on the script.
Raabta has been made on a budget of 50 crores. The movie needs to earn at least 70 crores to be called a hit at the box office. Considering the kind of opening, it would be difficult for the movie to recover costs. It needs to earn huge amount in the first week itself as more movies are releasing next week.
