Poll | Delay in release date of Raees will have a positive or negative effect on the movie?

There has been so much delay in release date of Raees that we cannot help but wonder whether all this delay will have a positive or negative effect on the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan and the makers of Raees are having a hard time finding the perfect release date for Raees. Initially, it was scheduled to release on Eid this year but it did not happen. Then, after many other delays, a new release date- 26 January 2017 was chosen. But in order to avoid a clash with Kaabil, this may also change. All this delay in release date of Raees has led us to question whether this will have a positive or negative effect on the movie.

Firstly, it’s good thing that the makers are trying to avoid what happened with Shah Rukh Khan’s previous movies Fan and Dilwale. Even though Eid was a good time to release the movie, if it had actually happened the fate of Raees could have been anything. The main reason behind this is that the cinema infrastructure in India is not enough to accommodate big films like Raees and Sultan at the same time. Till the time we have at least 8,000-9,000 theaters for release of two big films, this cannot happen. They will end up eating into each other’s businesses.

Secondly, Raees was not completely ready for a release till Eid as the makers were still working on it, Shah Rukh Khan was also injured and some major portions were left. So, the Sultan v/s Raees clash was bound to get cancelled. After Eid, the makers have been eyeing an ideal date this year, but some other big film was always coming and it could not happen.

Thirdly, the cast of Raees including Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are growing a little impatient because of this, especially Mahira Khan, who is making her debut into Bollywood with Raees. Apparently, Mahira has been getting interesting offers but she has signed a contract with the Raees makers that stops her from taking on any new work in Bollywood until the release of the film. This is a major problem for her!

Lastly, any producer will always look for an ideal release date like a national holiday for optimum business. That is why the makers chose 26th January 2017 but Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil is also scheduled to release on that date. Now, Shah Rukh Khan is thinking about postponing the release date again.
