Can you guess what could be the possible reason that made Kareena Kapoor Khan reject the remake of Sadma?
Last year, ad-filmmaker Llyod Baptista had said he was remaking the 1983 classic Sadma starring Sridevi and Kamal Hassan. He even said that he wasn’t rushing the process as he didn’t want to ruin the essence of the film. Reportedly, Ranveer Singh and Kareena Kapoor Khan were finalized as the leads but recently, we heard that Kareena Kapoor Khan reject the remake of Sadma.
During an interview with a leading daily, Kareena confessed that she was offered the role. She said “I was approached for the film but I am not doing that film.” She even said “I don’t know if they are making the film anymore now.”
According to some sources of TalkingMoviez, “The makers planned the sequel keeping Kareena in mind. It’s her character that drives the film so the female protagonist is very important in the film. Sridevi had nailed her part in the original and the team felt Bebo’s the only actress of the current generation who can bring in the depth and drama to the table. So after she informed them that she wasn’t doing the film, the makers decided to put the film on hold for the time being.”
Apparently, Vidya Balan was also approached for the role but she too declined it fearing she might not live up to the expectations of Sridevi’s character. Ranveer Singh had earlier said that he expected Kareena to do more meaningful movies in the future.
Could this be the reason why Kareena refused to work opposite him? Tell us what you think below.
