Setback for Ranbir Kapoor: Jagga Jasoos likely to be postponed again

The trailer of ‘Jagga Jasoos’ starring the real-life estranged couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, was released yesterday. While there have been mixed reviews about the trailer, of which some claimed it to be a ‘masterpiece’ while others called it ‘a kid’s movie’, Ranbir Kapoor says that his co-star in the movie Katrina Kaif, director Anurag Basu and Ranbir himself have worked very hard for the film.

“It’s a dream of 1.5 years that is now getting fulfilled. Anurag Basu, Pritam, Katrina Kaif and I have worked very hard on this film. We have made it with a lot of heart. This is a family film for kids too and we wish people really like it.” says Ranbir Kapoor.

Keeping in mind the fact that the film went through a lot of shelving, the release of the trailer and also getting a theatre release date for the movie must have been a huge sigh of relief to Ranbir Kapoor.

Describing the shelving of ‘Jagga Jasoos’, Ranbir said earlier “It’s adventure, it’s mystery, there’s a musical, there’s romance, there’s comedy and it’s the kind of films that I will always want to make on screen if I was a director.” Ranbir reveals, “You know, there was a point where I told Anurag Basu that should we shelve the film? Is it happening? And he was also in a dilemma, but we kept coming back to it. Because there was the soul of the film, the story he was trying to say…the world, the characters were just not leaving us. But thankfully, we have a sequel in the cards” he said about the delays in the film.

Jagga Jasoos is an upcoming Indian musical adventure romantic comedy film written and directed by Anurag Basu, and produced by Basu, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Adah Sharma in lead roles, and tells the story of a teenage detective in search of his missing father. The film is scheduled for release on 7 April 2017.
