The Censor Board has a bad reputation of making unnecessary cuts but surprisingly, Censor clears Mohenjo Daro without any cuts.
The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has earned a reputation of being very choosy and ‘sanskari’ when it comes clearing movies. We all remember the James Bond and Udta Punjab fiasco. But it turns out that the Pahlaj Nihalani led Board went very lenient for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next movie because Censor clears Mohenjo Daro without any cuts!
This comes out to be very surprising considering the fact that there are three steamy kissing scenes between Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the movie, one of which we have seen in the trailer. There are also reports that another kissing scene is inspired from the rather famous Game of Thrones scene where the lead actors make out in water in a cave. Their chemistry has obviously something different and ‘sanskari’ that the Board found good enough to be left uncut. According to a source close to Censor Board “The three kisses in Mohenjo Daro have been left untampered. The film has been passed without a single verbal or visual cut with a ‘UA’ certificate.”
Hrithik Roshan is very happy about this and expressed his happiness by saying “I wasn’t expecting any cuts, to be honest. But I am glad nevertheless. As for the kisses being left intact, I guess they came across as they were meant to, as manifestations of pure love. Vulgarity is always in the intention and expression and we never went that way.”
Mohenjo Daro has been passed with a UA certificate. But we need to ask this question- Is this really fair?
