Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : This daawat could have been more delicious and spicy
Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : Synopsis
Love stories over dining table are very few and far between, and ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’ is one such films. Starring peppy and perky Parineeti Chopra and Aashiqui 2 famed Aditya Roy Kapur, together plate up a finger-licking dish full of obsession, passion and infatuation.
Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : Story line
This foodie film showcases a Hyderabadi Gulrez ‘Gullu’ (Parineeti Chopra), a footwear sales girl disillusioned with love because of her encounter with dowry-seeking men presented by her uncle (Anupam Kher). But the twist in the tale of lovely and chirpy girl comes with the advent of a Lucknawi ‘Aashiq’, Tariq Haider (Aditya Roy Kapoor), who can charm anybody with the aroma and flavours of his biryani & kebabs. And here sparks a cute love story from the kitchen of the director and the recipes get spicy, sweet and bitter.
Gulrez-Tariq’s rib-tickling love chemistry work perfect and the duo’s exploring the colors of the city & romancing alongside on the streets is as sweet as ‘falooda kulfi’. However the extra long narration in the mid does not fit the plate and tests our patience but eventually the melodious song tracks by Sajid-Wajid are again available to digest the so-called semi-raw chicken part.
Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : Performances
This is Parineeti’s weakest performance till date. The actress known for kiddy and chirpy performances failed to impression as Hydrabadi sales girl. It’s good to see Aditya Roy Kapoor trying something different from his previous films. He has tried well to get into the role of Lucknawi chef and carried it well in most parts of the movie. The chemistry between the lead pair lacks the required spark. Anupam Kher is A class as always.
Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : Direction, music and other major factors
Habib Faisal has a good track record as director with movies like Do Duni Chaar and Ishaqzaade. Daawat-e-Ishq is undoubtedly his weakest movie. Habib tried his best but failed to hold the movie for most of the time. Music of the movie is composed by Sajid-Wajid and we must say that they failed terribly this time. One can expect a series of good number in romantic movie but Daawat-e-Ishq has not even a single one.
Daawat-e-Ishq Movie Review : Final Words
Just like biryani the movie has different layers that keeps you asking for more. Habib has tried his level best to serve something interesting to audience. Overall, Daawat-e-Ishq is a half baked biryani which lacks required zing and flavors but still can be tasted once.
