Rakesh Roshan was born in Khatri family full of Bollywood junkies as his father Roshan was Bollywood music director and his younger brother Rajesh Roshan is also a music director. Rakesh tied his knot with Pinky, daughter of director J. Om Prakash. His son Hrithik Roshan is a super star and fabulous actor in Bollywood. He also has a daughter, Sunaina. He studied in Sainik school, Satara, Maharashtra.
Roshan started his career with 1970 film Ghar Ghar ki Kahani (1970) with a role of supporting actor. In his whole career he got very few solo roles that too in women oriented films, e.g. Paraya Dhan with Hema Malini, Ankh Micholi with Bharati, Khoobsoorat with Rekha, Kaamchor with Jaya Prada.
Rakesh established his own production company Filmkraft in 1980 with Aap Ke Deewane as his very first production and it was box office flop.
He launched his son Hrithik as an actor with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), which was the highest grosser of 2000 and entered the Limca Book of Records for the most number of awards won by a Bollywood film. He directed his son in the 2003 Sci-Fi film, Koi Mil Gaya and fetched the Filmfare award 2004 for the best director.
Rakesh was honoured on December’2006 during the International Film Festival of India in Panaji for his marvellous contribution to cinema. He was also honoured in the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) for his fantabulous contribution to Indian cinema over the past 35 years.
