Azhar Trailer Review: Emraan Hashmi brings the story of Mohammad Azharuddin alive

Presenting Azhar Trailer, featuring Emraan Hashmi portraying the role of Mohammad Azharuddin.

Azhar, one of the most awaited biopics of 2016 is finally here. Directed by Tony D’Souza, Azhar features Emraan Hashmi in the lead role of ex-cricket player Mohammad Azharuddin. It also stars Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri and Lara Dutta.

Mohammad Azharuddin was once one of the most celebrated cricket captains of India. But he eventually became country’s most controversial sportsman. Based on real life events of Azharuddin, Azhar chronicles the highs and lows of his life and offers an insight into his world for the first time. The movie will tell us all about him- From his beginning, to his meteoric rise in cricket, from his marriages with Naureen and actress Sangeeta Bijlani to the infamous accusation of match fixing.

The trailer though seems a bit tacky and made Azhar look almost like a hero after all that happened in the past. Emraam did not even resembled Azharuddin much. But let’s not judge a book by it’s cover. Many movies with a not-so-good trailer have done very well in the past, let’s hope the same for Azhar. Prachi as Naureen, Nargis as Sangeeta and Lara as the lawyer looked okay. We look forward to seeing them more in the movie.

Azhar is slated to release on 13 May 2016. Are you impressed with the trailer?
