Akshay Kumar Revealed, Why He Signed Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Akshay Kumar Signed Toilet - Ek Prem Katha
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar

Akshay Kumar has been doing some really good films for the last three years. Some of them include masterpieces like Baby, Gabbar is Back, Airlift and Jolly LLB 2. The lineup of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming films is, even more, interesting as it contains some social-political dramas as well. Akshay will be next in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which is based on Swachh Bharat Mission.

At the success party of Jolly LLB 2, when Akshay was asked, why he signed TEPK, he replied, “I don’t plan anything; I decide to do the film only when I like the subject. If I feel that I need to bring out this issue then I go ahead. Like I am doing a film, Toilet –Ek Prem Katha, I am sure many of you know that 54% of Indian people do not have toilet. Isn’t it an alarming thing? I got a good script, so I said that I want to make this film. It is a taboo thing to talk about. When I announced the name, many people called me to ask why I am using this title. This issue is there on the face, so I am talking about it and why should we run away from it. It is one of biggest problems we have. There are about 1000 children that die due to diarrhoea in India. It is a real story and I thought if the messages will be conveyed in a commercial way, it will help to reach to larger audience. Government has made toilets but people don’t use it and turn it into a commercial place. India is number one country which has no toilets in proportion to population. It is a shameful thing.”

TEPK First LookDirected by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sana Khan and Anupam Kher. The movie will hit the theatres on 2 June 2017.

  1. We appreciate the contribution of the movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ for promoting the Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a government campaign to improve the sanitation conditions and eradicate open defecation in India. Our team at Helper4U met a lady with same spirits, who narrated us the problems she had to face due to open defecation and the real #freedom she got after moving to a house with toilet.
