Akira Economics and Box Office Analysis
Made on a budget of 30 crores, the movie has already recovered 15.5 crores via music and satellite rights. Akira just needs another 14.5 crores theatrical business (India and overseas). It is good to see that a women-centric movie has gained a profitable satellite deal. This comes as a big deal for Sonakshi Sinha at the time when the male stars are struggling to get a good Television deal.

Lifetime collection < 35 crores (Flop) Lifetime collection > 35 crores (Average)
Lifetime collection > 50 crores (Hit)
Lifetime collection > 70 crores (Super Hit)
Lifetime collection > 100 crores (Blockbuster)

We can expect Akira to be a good action entertainer as it is coming from the house of A.R. Murugadoss. He has delivered good movies like Holiday and Ghajini. Akira is expected to have a decent opening of around 5 crores, a good number considering it is a female-centric movie. After a decent opening, the movie will rely on WOM and reviews. Akira would be aiming to compete with other female-centric films like Mardaani, NH10 and Jai Gangaajal.
