Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review : Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is an unnecessary and irrelevant sequel.

Nana Patekar’s Ab Tak Chhappan 2 was released yesterday. The movie is a sequel to Ab Tak Chhappan – a commercially and critically successful venture of 2004. Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is nowhere close to its prequel. Most of the critics have thrashed the movie quoting its as unnecessary and pointless sequel. Let’s see what the top critics have to say on Ab Tak Chhappan 2.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Rajeev Masand from CNN-IBN : Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is an entirely pointless sequel, a film that has frankly no business to exist. It has neither plot nor relevance, and even at a running time of 1 hour and 41 minutes, it feels too long and completely unnecessary. Ab Tak Chhappan 2 has neither the benefit of Shimit Amin’s crisp direction nor a script as wholesome and probing as the first one. Even Ramgopal Varma, who produced the earlier film, isn’t involved with this one. What it does have, unfortunately, is the same dizzying camerawork of many of Varma’s recent films.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Rohit Vats from Hindustan Times : Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is solely dependent on Nana Patekar and he doesn’t disappoint, but he alone is not enough to save a film that is almost a replica of the original. However, it offers thrilling scenes and a good first half. On second thoughts, I think it works in the wrong way because the first half raises the expectations and then the film loses the steam. Still, it’s not an unwatchable film. You’ll like it if you don’t want it to compete with LA Confidential or Training Day or Sehar or Ardh Satya.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Renuka Vyavahare from TOI : Your heart goes out to Nana Patekar, who resurrects his role as an encounter cop and in doing so, lends utmost authenticity to his character. As a man torn between his duty as a cop and responsibility as a father, he singlehandedly strives to salvage what appears to be a poor remake of the gripping original (Shimit Amin’s Ab Tak Chhappan, 2004) with his tremendous screen presence.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Sukanya Verma from Rediff : You know where this is going already, don’t you? Sadly, Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is so terribly obvious in its deviousness, there’s not even a smidgen of surprise to expect.  Nana Patekar tries to hold it all together with an alacrity and prudence that deserves a Denzel Washington framework. Keeping his head high is the best he can do in the face of predictable easy targets and turncoats.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama : Right from the first frame of the film, the film’s director Aejaz Gulab (making his debut with this film) desperately tries to pick up where Shimit Amin left AB TAK CHHAPPAN. The sad part is that, while Shimit delivered a substantial AB TAK CHHAPPAN, Aejaz falters very badly with AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2, right from the word go. He fails miserably to keep the audiences engaged in the film’s plot, courtesy, the directionless storyline, hopelessly and unbelievably poor camera work and very average performances by everyone.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Surabhi Redkar from Koimoi : Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is all talk and no play. There is no killer action or pace like its prequel. It lacks the nerve to make up for a entertaining cop drama. Shoddy direction and editing spoil all the fun. I am going with a 1.5/5 for this boring film.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Shubha Bhetty Saha from Mid-day : A decade after ‘Ab Tak Chappan’ was released, this apology of a sequel brutally kills the original. Shoddy production qualities, uneven background music, jaded dialogues and pointless, unimaginative script scheme together to make this sequel a bit of a disaster. Avoid. If feeling nostalgic, watch the original again.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review by Subhra Gupta from Indian Express : This kind of film can work if it has a new spin on an old story. But the cop who gets busy notching up kills, without making us wonder about the morality of someone taking it upon themselves to exterminate humans, is a cipher. So is the film. And the worst part? It’s full of blips, everyone’s lips going silent, as soon as, presumably, a cussword comes along.

Overall, An unnecessary and pointless sequel. Avoid it.
