According to recent reports, Aamir Khan has been removed from his position of the face of Incredible India.
The move by the Tourism Ministry was triggered after Aamir Khan‘s comments on Intolerance in India. A few months ago at the Ramnath Goenka Awards function of The Indian Express Group, Aamir Khan spoke about the ‘rising intolerance’ in India.
Aamir Khan said there was an increased sense of despondency over the past 6-8 months and that he was alarmed by it. He said, “Important that those in power strongly condemn what’s wrong.” He added that his wife Kiran Rao had asked if they should move out of the country as she feared for the safety in a climate of insecurity.
His statement created a major uproar all over. Shiv Sena even offered a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for slapping him. But Aamir stuck to his statement. I guess he has got the redemption of statement finally.
