The streets of B-Town are filled with so much of talent but this talent does not always get the right platform to show its worth. There are some actresses in Bollywood who have given mediocre performances but are still at the top and there are many other who are so full of talent but haven’t got the right movies to flaunt it. Here’s a list of 10 Most Underrated Actresses of Bollywood-

1. Divya Dutta

Divya Dutta may have done a large number of movies but in my and many others opinion, she could do a lot better if offered some lead roles. All she has been doing so far are supporting roles with a very few exceptions. She is one of those few actresses who are not afraid to break the stereotype and take on roles just for the heck of it. She has given great performances in movies like Veer-Zara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, her latest one being Traffic.

2. Konkana Sen Sharma

Be it Page 3, Life in a Metro or Wake up Sid, Konkana Sen Sharma has proved time and again that she is an outstanding actress when it comes to parallel cinema. But what I still don’t understand is why she has not been so successful in case of mainstream cinema? Bollywood needs to understand what Konkana is worth!

3. Lillete Dubey

Lillete Dubey has the two things an actress needs to be successful- a pretty face and a talented mind. Yet, she is one of the most underrated actresses in the film industry. Her performances in Monsoon Wedding, Kal Ho Naa Ho were simply effortless. She is also an active participant of theatre and is also an acclaimed theatre director. She deserves more credit than she has got.

4. Mahie Gill

Mahie Gill’s portrayal of a modern Paro in Dev-D is something that can never be forgotten and that was her debut film! After this she received a lot of appreciation for her portrayal of a sexually frustrated Begum in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster and it’s sequel. She has done a lot of low budget movies after that but is yet to sign a big project with big names associated with it.

5. Nandita Das

There’s something very wrong with Indian cinema’s obsession with skin tone. This obsession is the reason why actresses like Kajol, Priyanka lighten their skin tone with make-up. But Nandita Das was never one of them. She has always embraced her au naturale beauty and given amazing performances in movies like Fire, Earth, Bawander. But sadly, her talent has not received the recognization it deserved.

6. Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte began her career in Bollywood with a meager role in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!. Her Bollywood breakthrough occurred in 2015 with her acclaimed performances in Badlapur and Hunterrr. Not to forget the short films like Ahalya, The Calling she keeps doing from time to time. Fortunately, she has started receiving a good response in Bollywood. She will soon be seen two low-budget movie’s lead- Parched and Phobia.

7. Sandhya Mridul

Sandhya Mridul had a good start in Bollywood with movies like Saathiya, Page 3 and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd in her kitty. Her versatility and her penchant for taking non-conformist roles have made her a darling of cross-over films. She disappeared from the scene but this year she made a come-back with Angry Indian Goddesses. I wish to see her more and more!

8. Shilpa Shukla

Best remembered for her role of Bindia Naik in Chak De! India, Shilpa Shukle is full of talent from head to toe. Her intense and powerful performance in B.A. Pass was so good that she received the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for it. This powerful performer has not been seen in any great role since then.

9. Supriya Pathak

After doing a lot of theatre, Supriya made her Bollywood debut with Kalyug and received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for it. Later, her role in Bazaar and Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela won her won her two more Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Awards. Yet, we don’t get to see her on the big screen as much as we would like to.

10. Swara Bhaskar

Swara is remembered mostly for her role in Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa. After these movie, she has started receiving a lot of attention because of her genuine performances. Her acting is believable and doesn’t look fake. She proved her mettle recently as the lead actress in a low-budget movie Nil Battey Sannata. We hope she keeps receiving more amazing offers in the future.
